Proudly Australian

Hobby aviary based in Queensland.

Welcome to Park Ridge Heritage Clearwing Budgies — a small hobby aviary located in Park Ridge South Queensland. I breed purely for the love of the birds, with a focus on the Australian Heritage Clearwing mutation and the wonderful varieties that come with it: Amethysts, Red Violets, Seafoams, Whitecaps and more.

These birds are special to me — not just for their striking looks but for the history they carry. Heritage Clearwings are a uniquely Australian mutation, distinct from the modern Greywing, and worth preserving carefully. I hope this site is a useful resource whether you're a fellow breeder, a curious bird keeper, or someone just discovering these beautiful budgies for the first time.

Aviary Update — June 2026

Breeding season is in full swing at the moment. Nestboxes are active, chicks are coming through, and the main focus is careful observation of the Amethyst, Red Violet, Seafoam and Violet Rainbow lines as they develop. Each clutch is being recorded for parentage, ring numbers, colour development, wing clarity and any useful genetic clues for future breeding decisions.

Updates will be added as youngsters feather up, moult through and show more reliable signs of their final colour and variety. Keep an eye on the Aviary Journal for current nestbox notes and season progress.

Why Heritage Clearwings?

Developed in Australia in the 1930s, Heritage Clearwings are distinct from modern Greywings. They are recognised for their strong body colour, clean white wings, clean markings and balanced type.

Our goal is to preserve and improve this remarkable Australian mutation for future generations.

Acknowledgement: The Heritage Clearwing and Amethyst Clearwing direction are respectfully linked on this site to the long-running budgie work of Don Burke, with further reading noted in the Genetics Centre.

Birds Available / Contact Me

I breed on a small hobby scale and occasionally have quality youngsters available to approved homes — always health-checked and properly weaned. I don't sell regularly or in volume; I'm happy to answer questions and point you in the right direction even if I don't have birds available at the time.

If you're interested in Heritage Clearwings, want to discuss genetics, or just want to chat budgies, feel free to get in touch. All enquiries welcome, and I'm happy to help connect interstate breeders with the right resources.
